Justin Thomas shot a final-round 5-under 65 to claim a thee-shot victory at the WGC-FedEx St Jude Invitational.
Thomas entered Sunday’s finale at TPC Southwind four shots back of overnight leader Brendon Todd (75), but quickly erased the deficit with a sizzling 4-under 31 front nine.
Thomas dropped a shot on the par-4 12th hole but gained it back and more with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 15 and 16 to reach 13-under par, three clear of the field.
It was the 27 year-old Kentucky native’s third title of the 2020 campaign, and 13th of his already historic career.
With the victory, Thomas earned $1,820,000 and 550 FedExCup points – cementing his hold on No. 1 on both the money and points lists. He also picked up 76 Official World Golf Ranking points and will move back to No. 1 for the second time in his career.
Brooks Kopeka seemed to have a lock – at minimum – on a solo runner up finish, but a poor tee shot led to a double bogey, and dropped the 2019 winner into a four-way tie for second-place on 10 under. Phil Mickelson (67), Tom Lewis (66), and Daniel Berger (65) were the others in the silver medal logjam.
They each will receive a direct deposit of $695,000 while also securing 193 FedExCup points.

Quotable
“Yeah, it means a lot. A decent amount of them I got fortunate like I did today. That’s what happens when you win. Stuff goes your way. Obviously you have to play well and make some putts and hit some shots, but at the end of the day, you need stuff to go your way, and it definitely did today, and it feels great.”
