Last Sunday, in Minnesota, Tony Finau was essentially handed the trophy after a collapse by Scott Piercy. This week, in Detroit, though, he earned it with weekend rounds of 65 and 67 to claim a second consecutive PGA Tour victory.

Finau started Sunday tied with Taylor Pendrith and ended it with a runaway five-shot blowout, aided greatly by hitting 66 of 72 greens in regulation, which historically trailed the accuracy of just two players since 1980 in a PGA Tour event. (Peter Jacobsen hit 69 at Pebble Beach in 1995; Willie Wood hit 67 at the Deposit Guaranty Classic in 1996.)

At 26-under par, Finau also broke Nate Lashley‘s tournament record of 25 under, set in 2019 during the inaugural event.

For his second win in as many weeks, the 32-year-old Utah native earned $1,512,000 and 500 FedExCup points. He will move to 7th in the points race and jump to 12th on the money list. He also picked up 42 OWGR points and will move up four spots, from 16 to 12th.
