On Sunday at TPC River Highlands, Xander Schauffele produced a final-round 68 to claim a two-shot victory at the 2022 Travelers Championship.
Schauffele’s final day in the Nutmeg State included two bogeys against four birdies en route to a four-day total of 19-under par, two clear of runners-up J.T. Poston (63) and Sahith Theegala (67), who made double bogey on 18 to lose the top spot.
It was the 28-year-old Californian’s sixth career PGA Tour title, and first official individual title since the 2019 Sentry event at Kapalua. (He scored an OWGR first-place result at the 2020 Tour Championship and picked up the gold medal at the 2021 Olympic Games. He also claimed victory at the 2022 Zurich Class which counted as a tour win but not with the OWGR database. All that confusion now ends with this win which is “official” on all counts.)
The San Diego State product secured one of the tour’s nicest looking trophies, playing a bag of (mostly) Callaway gear, including a Rogue driver, an Epic Speed 3-wood, Apex irons and a Chrome Soft X golf ball.
