Scottie Scheffler produced a final-round 67, and then beat Patrick Cantlay in a playoff to claim his maiden PGA Tour title at the WM Phoenix Open.
The 25-year-old Texas native finished his final day at TPC Scottsdale with eight birdies, highlighted by four late gains on Nos. 13, 14, 15, and 17 to reach 16-under par.
Scheffler earned $1,476,000 and 500 FedExCup points, which moves him to No. 3 on the tour’s money list and No. 4 in the points standings.
He also picked up 62 Official World Golf Rankings points and will move up to No. 8 (from 15th) – the first time he’s cracked the top 10.
Runner-up Cantlay took home a check for $893,800 along with 300 FedEx Cup points and 38 OWGR points.
