Cam Davis posted a final-round 67 on Sunday at Detroit Golf Club and then outlasted Troy Merritt and Joaquin Niemann in a five-hole playoff to claim victory at the 2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic.
The 26-year old Aussie signed for a final-day card of 5-under 67, highlighted by a hole-out eagle on No. 17 and a closing birdie on 18 to join Merritt and Neimann in a playoff on 18-under par.
Niemann, who played 72 holes without a single bogey, dropped his first shot all week in Detroit on the very first playoff hole and was eliminated.
Davis, who missed a putt that would have won the tournament on all five playoff holes, finally clinched victory when Merritt missed a short putt of his own on the fifth playoff hole.
The win earned Davis $1,350,000 and 500 FedExCup points, which moved him to No. 34 in the FedExCup standings, and No. 38 on the money list.
Davis also scored 48 Official World Golf Rankings points and moved to No. 54 – his best career position.
Runners-up Merritt and Davis each took home a check for $667,500 along with 245 FedExCup points, and 23 OWGR points.
