Adam Svensson opened with an 11-under par 60 to take a two-shot lead after day one of the Black Desert Championship.
The 30-year-old Canadian produced a bogey-free round featuring an eagle and nine birdies, including five in a row, en route to the round-one marquee position at Black Desert Resort.
“Yeah, it was great. Hit my irons extremely well. Had a lot of good looks,” said Svensson. “I didn’t feel like I putted that great, but they just kind of snuck in. It was just one of those days.”
Former Augusta State star Henrik Norlander signed for a career-low 62 to sit T2, alongside Matt McCarty, who recently earned a Three-Victory Promotion from the Korn Ferry Tour.
“Yeah, I just felt pretty good this morning,” said Norlander, seeking his maiden win in his 179th PGA Tour start. “I like this place. It’s easy to stay here and walk down to breakfast and get out on the range.
“Yeah, got off to a good start, hit it close on 10, and then 11 is sort of a long hole, especially in the morning. Hit a good second shot, good two-putt, and then I hit it close about three holes in a row and made all those putts, and I was off and running.”
Kevin Streelman and Sam Ryder were two further back on 7 under 64.
Ben Kohles aced the par-3 17th to reach 6-under 65 and sit joint-six, alongside Kurt Kitayama, Chan Kim, Stephan Jaeger, Harry Hall, Cam Champ, Doug Ghim, Joe Bramlett and Ryan Fox.
