John Parry won the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on Sunday, marking his first DP World Tour victory in more than 14 years.

The Englishman’s triumph was headlined by a final-round score of 64 to settle on 14-under par, two strokes clear of South Africans Dylan Naidoo (71) and Christo Lamprecht (65), who tied for second on 12 under.

The win was particularly significant for the 38-year-old journeyman, who had considered retiring from golf after losing his tour card and being relegated to the PGA EuroPro Tour, a third-tier league. But after working his way back to the European Challenge Tour – the European Tour’s developmental tour, Parry won three times in 2024, securing an automatic promotion to the main European Tour.

“It’s massive,” said Parry of the long-awaited victory. “I don’t know how long ago — I was back on the EuroPro Tour and I was close to giving up golf after winning when I was 23 out here.

“So it’s been a long battle back but worth every moment for this week.”

Parry’s performance on Sunday was highlighted by a brilliant burst of scoring on his final seven holes at Mont Choisy Le Golf, which included an eagle on 12 and birdies on Nos. 13, 14, 16 and 18 to secure victory in Grand Baie, Mauritius.

Co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and South Africa’s Sunshine Tour, Parry earned a prize of €245,764.92 from the $1,500,000 purse.
