The world’s best players will be teeing it up in Charlotte, North Carolina this week for the season’s last major, the PGA Championship. Jimmy Walker will defend his maiden major title at Quail Hollow, where world-class players will have on final shot for major glory.
The favorites to lift the Wannamker Trophy come Sunday evening, include a trio of players who already own three wins on the season, including world No. 1 Dustin Johnson, three-time major champion Jordan Spieth, and Japanese superstar Hideki Matsuyama, who picked up his third at Firestone last weekend.
Rory McIlory may be winless on the season, but he enters Quail with perhaps the most impressive resume of them all, with two wins on the course (2010 and 2015 Wells Fargo), and two PGA Championship titles.
With just two tournament weeks remaining before the FedEx Cup Playoffs begin, the PGA Championship will also play an important role in setting the fields for The Northern Trust (Top 125) and Dell Technologies Championship (Top 100), the first two playoff events.
