Mexico’s Carlos Ortiz claimed victory at the International Series Macau, edging American Patrick Reed by three shots.

Ortiz, who plays for the Fireballs team, posted a final-round score of 64 to reach 22-under.

Ortiz, Reed and third-place finisher Jason Kokrak, by way of the Open Qualifying Series, each punched their ticket to Royal Portrush this summer with a top-3 finish.

“I am overjoyed to be heading to The Open,” Ortiz said.

For Ortiz, it was his second career Asian Tour International Series win after claiming the title in Oman last year.

“It was a good week,” said Ortiz. “I think I did a good job of putting the ball in play — that’s important on this golf course. I think I drove it really well. I took advantage of the par fives and some of the short par fours.”

Reed shot a 67 on Sunday and settled for a tournament score of 19-under, three ahead of compatriot Kokrak, who secured solo third on 16-under.

“Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get the win,” Reed said. “But, you know, anytime you can play bogey-free on Sundays, always positive. To go and finish solo second, get at spot in The Open, it means a lot.”

Sergio Garcia (65) missed a 3-foot putt to finish on 15 under, knocking him out of a tie for third and into fourth place. It cost the 45-year-old Spaniard a spot in the Open Championship.
