The leader after 36 and 54 holes, Canadian Adam Hadwin shot a final-round even-par 71 and held on to win the Valspar Championship by a single stroke over Patrick Cantlay.
It was the 29-year-old Hadwin’s first PGA Tour title.
And it did not come easy.
Seemingly in control, with three holes to go, Hadwin double-bogeyed the 16th hole to even things up with Cantlay. The two would both walk away from the par-3 17th clean. But Cantlay got into trouble on 18, and ended up missing a 15-footer for par. Hadwin was left with a two-foot tap-in for the win.
For the victory, Hadwin takes home $1,134,000 in prize money and 500 FedEx Cup points – which moves him into 4th place in the FedEx standings and 7th place on the Money List.
