Golf fans know Henrik Stenson for being a prankster and living life on the edge.
But the British Open champ let the entire world know he’s a bit crazy yesterday at the Olympics when he decided to play with a Caiman – the South American relative of the Alligator.
On the par 5 10th hole, during the third round at The Olympic Golf Course, Stenson’s tee shot landed near the water. Following his approach shot onto the green, Stenson was walking along the edge of the water with his caddie when he spotted the Caiman.
Stenson being Stenson, the Swede decided to have some fun with the reptile by giving it a poke with his wedge.
“A little tickle with a lob wedge. I thought it could handle that, if it would have been twice the size, then you probably need to go into the longer irons,” he smiled. “He wasn’t too big. He was facing the right way for me.”
