Let’s face it, you have to be a die-hard golf fan to really care about the comings and goings of the senior PGA Tour’s Toshiba Classic.
But there were some good storylines coming out of Newport Beach CC yesterday. Obviously the primary one being that of Jay Haas, who is seeking to become the second oldest winner on the senior circuit.
The other big story was the hot play of fan favorite John Daly, who strung together 8 holes, between Friday and Saturday, which produced 7 straight birdies, capped off by an eagle.
Daly finished his first round on Friday with 5 birdies.

The iconic long bomber then ripped off two birdies and an eagle on Saturday to start his second round. For those keeping score that’s 9-under over 8 holes!

During the back nine on Saturday, Daly’s oft-troubled shoulder started acting up, and was forced to play with “basically one-arm.”
