It’s good to be Jack. This morning no one knew that it was the 55th anniversary of Jack Nicklaus giving up his amateur status, and joining the PGA.
But all it took was for Jack to post an old letter he wrote to the USGA and all hell breaks loose.
Now it’s the talk of the golf media.
Here’s the letter Jack wrote to Joseph Day on November 7, 1961, declaring his intention to turn professional “with mixed emotions and considerable thought.”
