Matilda Castren shot a final-round 65 to claim a two-stroke maiden victory at the LPGA Mediheal Championship.
The Finland native entered the final round in Daly City, California two shots back of overnight leader Min Lee of Taiwan. But the Florida State alum quickly seized the pole position with a hat trick of birdies on Nos. 1, 2, and 3, and never looked back. Castren finished with a bogey-free scorecard comprised of five birdies and one eagle to reach 14-under par, two clear of Lee, who shot 3-under 69.
Aussie Hannah Green (66) and Korean So Yeon Ryu (67) were next on 8 under, one clear of a foursome at 7 under which included France’s Celine Boutier (64), Korea’s Jenny Shin (70), and Americans Jenny Coleman (70) and Danielle Kang (70).
