On a wet and windy day in Farso, Denmark, Matthias Schwab produced a flawless round of 5-under 66 to take a one-shot lead at the halfway point of the Made in Denmark.

The Austrian capped off his five-birdie second day at Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort with a final-hole gain to reach 8-under par, one clear of Spaniard Romain Langasque (66) and Frenchman Alejandro Canizares (69), who shared second on 7-under par.

“I’m feeling good. I’m happy about how the day went,” said Schwab. “I’m a little bit happy that it’s over too because, especially early, it was very difficult and not much fun to be out there with rain and wind and very cold but, in the end, it turned out to be a good day for me.

“It was just one shot at a time. I think I usually play pretty okay on courses that are tough, I guess that suits me and I guess I’m a good wind player too.

“I really just want to do my own thing and see what comes out.”

A trio including Robert MacIntyre (70) of Scotland, Alvaro Quiros (67) of Spain, and Austrian Bernd Wiesberger (69) were two further back at 5-under par.
