Padraig Harrington ran away from the field on Sunday to claim victory at the TimberTech Championship.
The Irishman birdied six of his first seven holes on Sunday at the Old Course at Broken Sound en route to a final-round, 7-under 64. At 16-under 197 for the weekend, Harrington posted a seven-shot victory in Boca Raton, Florida.
Defending champion Bernhard Langer posted a final-round 70 to tie for second on 9 under alongside Charlie Wi (64).
The win was Harrington’s sixth on the PGA Tour Champions tour.
“It was important to win from being in front,” said Harrington via a Golf Channel interview. “I think as players, we like to keep the idea that if we get a lead, we can handle the pressure, so it was very important for me.”
