With this week’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the PGA Tour closes out the month of April, which featured three storyline-rich trophy hoisters.
The month started with Jordan Spieth ending his lengthy winless drought at the Valero Texas Open; followed by Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama‘s historic win at Augusta National; and capped off by Stewart Cink‘s emotional victory at Harbour Town.
May will have a hard time topping all that, but with the season’s second major (the PGA) on tap at Kiawah Island, bookended by the Tour’s two longtime Texas stops, each associated with a Lonestar golf legend, Byron Nelson and Ben Hogan, history will ultimately decide.
Add Innisbrook and Quail Hollow as the opening stops and May has some real serious potential.
