PGA Tour pros react like most of us after they hit a shot they dig. It’s called a golf pose. Whether it’s little bend of the back, tilt of the hip, or aim of the club, the post-swing stance is what makes golf so unique.
Here are some poses from round three at the WGC-HSBC Champions, as captured by the photographers at Getty Images, and as ranked (1-8) by this space.
1. Zinjun Zhang
The winner of the best pose of the day. Zhang with a classic bend of the hip, that says this shot is so damn good I’m just going to chill.
2. Ryan Moore
Moore’s got the second best pose rocking here. Tongue floss, check. Club vertical, check. Back tilt, check. Boom!
3. Bill Haas
Old school Nicklaus pose here from Haas. Just conveys classic cool.
T4. Rory McIlroy
Perfect form by McIlory with toe planted and a stone-cold, emotionless look.
T4. Henrik Stenson
No one on Tour has the ability to laser beam a ball better than Stenson. And no one enjoys watching those laser shows better than Stenson himself.
T4. Thomas Pieters
Pieters with the classic PGA Tour logo pose that tells the photographer to start burst mode.
7. Shane Lowry
Lowry, who played with Pieters, gives the iconic logo pose a try, but doesn’t quite have the figure to pull it off.
8. Francesco Molinari
Quite possibly the worst pose by a professional golfer. No form. No swag. And a face that shows no confidence.
