Charles Barkley appears to be the next big name tied to LIV Golf, according to a report in the New York Post.
The former NBA star dined with LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman on Wednesday in Atlanta, where the power duo discussed a key position for Barkley with the upstart golf tour.
According to a source who travels in the LIV Golf circles, Norman came away from the meeting impressed with Barkley’s golf knowledge and is prepared to offer the Hall of Famer a multi-year deal.
Barkley, a studio analyst for NBA on TNT, is an avid golfer and has appeared as an analyst on multiple editions of Capital One’s broadcast of The Match on TBS/TNT. He is under contract with Turner through the 2024-25 NBA season. With LIV Golf, he will be an on-course commentator and tour ambassador.
LIV Golf has six more events left on the calendar in 2022 with the next tournament set for July 29-31 at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey. Barkley is scheduled to play in the tournament’s pro-am next week.
