As the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black approaches, speculation is swirling about the U.S. team’s leadership, with Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth named as potential vice captains if they fail to qualify as players.

According to a Golfweek article, U.S. captain Keegan Bradley, who recently won the Travelers Championship and climbed to No. 9 in the Ryder Cup points standings, may need additional support given his dual role as a likely player-captain.

Fowler, a five-time Ryder Cup veteran and 2023 captain’s pick, was asked about the vice-captain role during a press conference at the John Deere Classic. The 36-year-old, currently a longshot to make the team due to inconsistent form, responded, “Haven’t heard anything on that. Obviously I’ve loved all the team events I’ve been on… We’ll deal with that if it comes to that.”

Spieth, another Ryder Cup stalwart, was also mentioned but not directly quoted.

Davis Love III, a former captain, endorsed Bradley’s potential to juggle both roles, suggesting he “might need more assistants” like Fowler or Spieth to navigate the demanding week.

With the top six players automatically qualifying after the BMW Championship on August 17, 2025, and Bradley holding six captain’s picks, the vice-captain discussion highlights the blend of experience and strategy needed to reclaim the Cup from Europe.
