Steph Curry, the all world hoop star from the Golden State Warriors, is also a golf fanatic – in case you hadn’t heard.
This week Curry is playing in the Safeway Open as one of the amateur celebrities. And part of the deal is for Curry to create some buzz, both for the event and the Tour.
In this video clip, Curry gives us a peek inside his golf bag, and why he likes each particular club.
As is the case with most amateurs who aren’t under contract to a particular brand, Curry packs his bag with a mix of clubs that “feel good.”
The 28 year-old NBA Star plays PING G30 metal woods (Driver, 3 Wood), PXG Irons, Titleist Hybrid, and Scotty Cameron GOLO 5 Mallet Putter.
Curry offered some insight on why he feels “comfortable” playing the PXG Irons – essentially offering up a quick review, from weight to feel.
On the Weight: “For me they felt like on the heavier side, which I like.”
On the Look: “They have a pretty big surface area which gives me confidence when I’m over the ball.”
On the Feel: “They have a pretty generous sweet spot… A good feel when I hit it right. I’ve gotten real comfortable with them.”
When asked which was his go-to club, Curry, like most amateurs, chose the 3 wood as his favorite.
“I feel like Henrik Stenson,” said Curry, discussing his PING 3 Wood. “I definitely don’t hit it as far, but I feel like I’ve got the same amount of confidence when I’m over it as he does.”
