0

Fifty of the world’s top 50 players from the Official World Golf Ranking will be teeing it up at Royal Birkdale in the 146th Open Championship.

The tournament, the oldest on the pro tour circuit, will feature the game’s biggest stars from around the globe, with Sweden’s Henrik Stenson seeking to defend his first major title.

The favorites to lift the Claret Jug come Sunday afternoon, include world No. 1 Dustin Johnson, two-time major champion Jordan Spieth, rookie phenom Jon Rahm, and Japanese superstar Hideki Matsuyama, who has already won twice on the PGA Tour this season.

With only five weeks remaining before the FedEx Cup Playoffs, The Open Championship will play an important role in setting the field for The Barclays, the first playoff event.
