Tommy Tolles shot a 3-under par 70 and will take a one-shot lead over Scott Dunlap and Steve Stricker into the final round of the Cologuard Classic.
Tolles, who shared the lead with Dunlap after day one in Tuscon, offset a pair of bogeys with three birdies and an eagle (on the par-5 2nd hole) to reach the two-day low score of 11-under par.
“I had my moments again today, good and bad, and for the most part it was more good than bad. I did not putt near as well. I hit a good putt on the last hole, just misread it but there were probably half a dozen putts out there that I left in the bag,” said Tolles, who made bogey on the final hole.
Stricker, who shared the lead with Tolles at 12 under, made even more of a mess on the final hole, producing a double bogey to drop to the second spot at 10-under par, alongside Dunlap, who posted a 2-under 71.
Rocco Mediate fired a low-round 8-under 65 to leap 41 positions up the leaderboard, joining Gene Sauers (70) and Doug Garwood (68) at 9-under par.
