Vegas Odds: Kirk, Kizzire Favored at Sanderson Farms Championship

0

As is the case with events which are opposite World Golf Championships and Majors, the field for this week’s Sanderson Farms Championship is limited to players who did not qualify for the WGC-HSBC Champions event in China.

But what the event lacks for in quality, it makes up for in intrigue, as the highest ranked player in the field is Chris Kirk at 76.

It’s a worn out cliche, but the Sanderson Farms Championship is truly up for grabs.

Kirk and Patton Kizzire (World #81) are listed as the co-favorites by Vegas Insiders – with Kirk (13/1) pegged as a slight pick over Kizzire (14/1).

The 31-year-old Kirk finished a respectable 54th in the final 2016 FedEx Cup rankings. But despite a T10 at the BMW Championship, the 3-time Tour winner failed to make it to East Lake for the first time in three years.

An early season win in Mississippi will go a long way in helping Kirk regain his status as one of the Tour’s top players.

Kizzire has already earned 300 FedEx Cup points in the young season, thanks to a sole 2nd at the Safeway two weeks ago. The former Auburn star finished with a T4 at Jackson CC last season, and is looking to finally breakthrough with a PGA Tour win.

Rounding out the top five are Ian Poulter (24/1), Steven Bowditch (27/1), and Russell Henley (29/1).
