The second round of the 2017 Masters is in the books, and after another wild and windy day at Augusta National, we have a logjam at the top of a star-studded leaderboard – as only four shots separate first (-4) from 10th (E).
The foursome of Sergio Garcia, Rickie Fowler, Thomas Pieters and Charley Hoffman are at the top at 4-under. Journeyman William McGirt, who finally broke through last year with a win at the Memorial, is all alone in fifth at 2-under, just two back of the leaders.
A big-name foursome, comprised of Justin Rose, Fred Couples, Jon Rahm, and Ryan Moore, are tied for sixth at -1. While three former Green Jacket winners round out the top-10 – Jordan Spieth (2015), Adam Scott (2013), and Phil Mickelson (2004, 2006, 2010).
The weekend is setting up like a dream for golf fans with so many epic storylines in the works: Can Sergio or Rickie win a first major?; What about the play of 57-year-old Freddie ‘Boom Boom’Couples?; Can Justin Rose add Green to his Gold?; Can Jordan Spieth overcome a QUAD in round one and get redemption for last year’s collapse?; Will Phil Mickelson match Arnie and win jacket #4?; Will young phenom Jon Rahm break the hearts of all these vets?
Here’a nice 3-minute recap from the Masters Tournament, narrated beautifully by Jimmy Roberts.
