Justin Thomas shot a final-round 68 at Medinah Country Club to claim a three-stroke victory at the BMW Championship – the second leg of the 2019 FedExCup Playoffs.

Thomas finished his final day at the historic Chicago-area golf course with six birdies against two bogeys to reach 25-under par, three shots clear of Patrick Cantlay (65).

It was Thomas’ first win of the season, and 10th of his young PGA Tour career.

With the victory, the 26-year old Kentucky native moves to No. 1 (from 15) in the FedExCup standings and will enter East Lake as the favorite to win his second FedExCup title in three years.

Flashback: Quote

“You know, for how much pride we take in our wins, I think that that’s (leader starting out at 10-under par) something that’s going to be a little different. But it’s definitely going to be weird. I mean, you could be just shot out of the tournament really because if you start nine or ten back and you go shoot a couple over the first day, your week is realistically done.

“That part is a little bit of a bummer, but like I said earlier, we’re just going to kind of see how it unfolds, and hopefully it turns out well.”
