Rory McIlroy shot a final-day 70 to reach 16-under par and claim a one-shot victory over Jim Furyk at the PLAYERS Championship.

McIlroy, who entered the day one off the pace of 54-hole leader Jon Rahm, got off to a rough start at an overcast and windy TPC Sawgrass, making double-bogey on No. 4 and bogey on No. 7, en route to a front-nine 37.

The 29-year old Northern Irishman settled down, though, and finished his final nine holes with four birdies, including back-to-back gains on Nos. 15 and 16, to clinch his first career PLAYERS title.

The win was McIlroy’s first of the season, and 15th of his illustrious PGA Tour career.
