Much has been said this about how difficult Oakmont is expected to be for the U.S. Open. It was absolutely merciless last time Oakmont played U.S. Open host, as winner Angel Cabrera finished at 5-over par.

Xander Schauffele shot a record-tying 11-under par 62 on Sunday at Kapalua to claim his second PGA Tour victory of the 2018-19 season at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.

Schauffele started his final day at the famed Plantation Course five shots back of 54-hole leader Gary Woodland, and then found himself six shots behind following a bogey on the first hole. But after settling down with a par on the second hole, the 25-year old burgeoning star from southern California reeled off four birdies in a five-hole stretch (Nos. 3-7) and then added an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole to turn in 31.
