Ariya Jutanugarn shot a 6-under 66 on Friday and will enter the weekend at the Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open with a three-shot lead.
The 25-year-old Thai, who won the 2018 Scottish Open, finished her second day at Dumbarnie Links with one bogey offset by seven birdies including five gains on her final seven holes to secure the halftime lead on 9 under.
“I don’t really feel like I’m really confident or I’m not confident at all,” said Jutanugarn. “But I think like just have to go day-by-day to me.
“When I say I still have so much thing to work on, and to me, I just want to be chilling on the course because I know when I’m chilling on the course, everything going to take care of themselves.”
Charley Hull, Emily Pedersen and Atthaya Thitikul were three off the pace and tied for second on 6 under.
Six more players were T5 on 5 under, headlined by U.S. Women’s Open champions Jeongeun Lee6 and Yuka Saso.
In all 71 players made the cut at +2, including defending champion Stacy Lewis (+1) and first-round leader Michele Thomson (+1), who struggled to a 8-over 80 on Friday.
Notables to miss the weekend in Fife included major champions Hannah Green (+3), Brittany Lincicome (+3) and Minjee Lee (+6).
