Power Rankings: 2018 Hero World Challenge

12. Jon Rahm

After an unbelievable 2017 season Rahm, who just turned 24 a few weeks ago, did not quite have the season that many had predicted in 2018. After a win at the CareerBuilder Challenge in January, Rahm rose to No. 2 in the world rankings, which might have gotten in his head as he slowly dropped as the season went on.

After a T4 at the PGA Championship in August, he suffered through a difficult five-event stretch, but was excellent in his last start, a T4 at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, which he is hoping to parlay into a great debut performance in the Bahamas.

When Rahm is confident, he has shown that he can win any time, anywhere.

Odds: 12-1
World Rank: 8th

11. Bubba Watson

The 2015 Hero Champion by three strokes over Patrick Reed, Bubba was a bit hit-or-miss in 2018, with three of his six top-10s being victories, pushing his career win total to an impressive 12.

The 40-year-old was phenomenal off the tees in the past year, the biggest reason he enjoyed a prodigious comeback season where he jumped from outside the top 100 in the world, to just barely outside the top 10.

Bubba did not finish the season especially well, but it is worth noting that he did best at courses where he had shown significant comfort before, a possible sign that he might be due for a big week at an event where he has finished T6-WIN in his last two attempts.

Odds: 28-1
World Rank: 17th
Field Rank: 12th
Last Six: 29, 16, 7, 34, MC, 31

10. Jason Day

Is JDay back? After a miserable 2017 where he fell hard off his World No. 1 perch, Day rebounded nicely in the early part of 2018, and in one six-start stretch beginning in late January, he had two wins and a runner-up.

Those great results were promising, but over the course of the full season, he was not quite the dynamic, consistent threat he once was, posting just five top-10 finishes in 20 starts (although he did score 15 top-25s), and he was irrelevant in the majors.

Currently 11th in the world rankings, Day has had a month of rest after posting finishes of T5 and T11 in the new season. He is still looking to regain magic with his irons, but he possesses the world’s best short game, which makes him a threat anywhere.

This will be Day’s second career Hero start, and first since finishing solo-fifth in the 2015 edition.

Odds: 18-1
World Rank: 11th
Field Rank: 7th
Last Six: 11, 5, 18, 24, MC, 20
