Rory McIlroy made news again today in an Irish rag called the Independent.
And once again, the sports media’s favorite golfer played victim while trashing everyone related to LIV, particularly Greg Norman and Sergio Garcia.
Then around 10am EST, my phone started blowing up with LIV players venting. (Okay, not really: it was only two players and one caddie, and all were in reply to my request for comment.)
“It’s Rory… What do you expect. Don’t care… He’s a broken record,” said one LIV player, who teamed with McIlroy on several European Ryder Cup squads.
Said an American LIV golfer: “He’s a pampered crybaby. Biggest phony in golf. Zero f##ks what he says.”
A LIV caddie added, “Rory is not very smart. His trolling schtick might play well with the pga tour media but fans and players are getting sick of his hypocritical partisanship.”
