Haotong Li shot a round of 5-under 65 on Friday at TPC Harding Park which moved the 24-year old Chinese star to 8 under and atop the 36-hole leaderboard.

Along with good form, the other noticeable thing about Li on Friday was his hat sponsor: WeChat – the Communist China controlled messaging app that is in the process of being banned by President Donald Trump.

“I don’t know. Who knows?,” said Li, when asked to comment about Trump’s executive order which would ban his sponsor in the U.S.

WeChat is a government-controlled messaging software application which allows its citizens to communicate with one another under the ever-watchful eye of the far-left Communist Party. Around the world, many people of Chinese descent use WeChat to stay in touch with friends and family back home who are not allowed to talk free from government surveillance.

Li will be paired with France’s Mike Lorenzo-Vera in Saturday’s final grouping.
