The PGA Tour has announced the addition of a Bermuda event to its 2019-20 schedule.

In a press release, the Tour said that a new event, titled the Bermuda Championship, will make its debut on the schedule this fall (next season), opposite the WGC-HSBC Champions in China, Oct. 31-Nov. 3, 2019. The opposite-event slot was previously held by the Sanderson Farms Championship, which will move to the second position in the wrap-around portion of the Tour’s 2019-20 schedule, Sep. 19-22, 2019.

The new tournament will be contested at Port Royal Golf Course in Bermuda, the former home of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf from 2009-2014 – a tournament which brought together the four major winners from the past season.

The Bermuda Tourism Authority will be the title sponsor, and has agreed to a five-year deal, running from 2019 through 2024. The new event will offer a $3 million purse, with $540,000 and 300 FedExCup points awarded to the winner. All four rounds will be broadcast by the Golf Channel.

“Bermuda is an appealing year-round destination, and the players will love visiting in the fall, plus we will be hosted by an outstanding golf course.

“It promises to be a wonderful opportunity to showcase Bermuda — a beautiful island destination that embodies genuine hospitality — to the world.”

The Bermuda Championship will be the Tour’s second new event on the fall schedule, with the Zozo Championship debuting as the first official PGA Tour event in Japan. It will be staged from Oct 24-27 at the Narashino Country Club in Chiba, and replace the CIMB Classic on the Tour’s three-event Asian swing.
