Can you be called the ‘Official World Golf Rankings’ when you exclude tournaments that feature the likes of Cameron Smith and Dustin Johnson, who are without question two of the ten best players in the world at the moment?

Pro Golf Weekly thinks the answer is no, and it plans to fill the void with The Real World Golf Rankings.

“By playing politics and ignoring LIV Golf events, the OWGR has forfeited its legitimacy,” said Paul Daly, Pro Golf Weekly’s editor and publisher.

The Real World Golf Rankings will debut on Monday, March 6, 2023.

The initial model will use the same calculations as the old Official World Golf Rankings but include LIV Golf tour events. A future model will run the same data set against a proprietary algorithm.

Stay tuned.

  1. David Feherty said it best all weekend. “DJ and Cam are doing their best to make the official world golf rankings look….well, unofficial”. Spot on. They are well on their way to becoming a major laughing stock. Ricky Fowler will move up in the rankings this week while Cam and DJ will drop. They have lost all credibility.
