The 2019 Masters champion congratulated the 2021 Master winner with a post on Sunday evening: Tiger Woods sent along kudos to Hideki Matsuyama after his historic win at Augusta National Golf Club.

Recovering from a serious car crash that may end his golf career, Woods posted to social media, “Making Japan proud Hideki. Congratulations on such a huge accomplishment for you and your country.

“This historical Masters win will impact the entire golf world.”

Woods, who has known Matsuyama since he was a rookie in 2013, won his 82nd and final (for now) PGA Tour event in the golf-crazed nation of Japan at the inaugural ZOZO Championship in late 2019, which also included a Japan Skins Game featuring Jason Day, Rory McIlroy, Woods and Matsuyama.
