During Wednesday’s practice round, Tyrrell Hatton was playing alongside fellow Brit Ian Poulter, who enjoyed some banter at his younger countryman’s expense.
Hatton, the world No. 10 and top-ranked Englishman, had trouble getting out of one of Royal St George’s famously deep bunkers, and Poulter joked, “Have another go, T.”
Hatton replied, “I’m trying to get a six (iron) out.”
“I’ll give you a clue. It ain’t six. Try seven,” said Poulter.
He added, “Ah. It’s just short, mate.”
