Setting the scene: During the opening round of the CJ Cup, Scott Piercy’s golf ball was in the second cut, just off the green, on the par-5 third hole.
Trying to make sure it had enough legs, Piercy punched down on his Titleist with what would appear to be a 9-iron or pitching wedge. Whatever the club, it worked to perfection.
His golf ball came out like a bullet, but had so much spin on it that it slowed down and cruised straight into the hole for an eagle-3.
As the Golf Channel announcer said, “That is a professional chip shot right there.”
